Independent knowledge agency for the mobility sector AUMACON presents the Garage Concept Survey for Belgium for the second time. Among the conclusions: The past year has seen limited growth in new branches. Many concepts are not yet able to achieve rapid growth. Strong expansion will still be required in the coming years if sufficient market power and value for participating garage operators are to be guaranteed.
Market analyst Clem Dickmann of AUMACON: "There are seven universal concepts that pass the 100-establishment mark in Belgium. A year ago, there were five. That limit is often seen as a criterion for the claim of 'national coverage'. Especially for making agreements with leasing companies, this claim is important.
Overall, the 25 concepts achieved a branch growth of 16 per cent. It should be noted that API Drive Vip and TechExpert (both from Autodistribution) have now merged into the new concept Omnitech. WonderService (D'Ieteren) and Eurotyre have been newly added.
The 10 largest concepts together represent 1,176 entrants, or 76 per cent of the total Top 25. Eurorepar Car Service (a concept of car manufacturer Stellantis) is unchanged as the largest concept in Belgium with 170 branches, followed by 1,2,3 Autoservice (Doyen Auto) and newcomer Omnitech (Autodistribution). "Belgium is therefore still a fairly open playing field for the concepts. Therefore, my motto to the concepts: don't wait for acquisition, be active in your recruitment, but at the same time also remain critical of the quality of the garagist."
