The National Car Lease Event 2026 took place on Monday 12 October 2026 at Dauphine Amsterdam.
2026/2027 edition:
The car leasing market is also being positively influenced by the persistently high level of economic activity and rising GDP in our country. The total fleet of the 100 largest car leasing companies rose by 1.6 per cent last year to just over 1.6 million vehicles, according to an analysis of the new AUMACON Top 100 Leasing Companies. This figure includes all current lease contracts for passenger cars, vans and lorries, as well as management contracts.
The Top 100 represents virtually the entire car leasing sector in our country. By mid-2026, the ten largest companies will manage no less than 81.9 per cent of all lease contracts; this figure was fractionally lower as at June last year (81.8 per cent), but stood at just 71.5 per cent seven years ago.
The very largest market players are once again confirming their dominant position. This is a trend that is also evident in other sub-sectors of the automotive market – such as among car dealers. However, unlike with car dealers, there remains sufficient scope in the leasing sector for small, regionally focused and specialised players. By way of comparison: the 10 largest car dealers in the Netherlands will have a combined market share of almost 52 per cent by 2025.”
Santander Leasing: the fastest-growing
Every year, AUMACON presents the first copy of its latest edition to a company that stands out from the rest. This year, that honour has gone to Santander Leasing. This subsidiary of Open Bank S.A. has distinguished itself this year by achieving the largest increase in its vehicle fleet. The company, which specialises primarily in financial leasing, has managed to climb steadily in this fiercely competitive market, largely due to the growth of its operational leasing portfolio. As at 30 June 2026, it occupied 11th place in the national ranking.
The award ceremony took place on Monday 12 October 2026 at Dauphine in Amsterdam during the National Car Lease Event and was organised in collaboration with BNR Nieuwsradio.
