New comprehensive overview of Belgian garage concepts

AUMACON survey now highlights 30 concepts

Independent knowledge agency for the mobility sector AUMACON presents the Garage Concept Survey for Belgium for the third time. Unlike in the two previous years, not 25 but 30 concepts are now included in the survey. With this expansion, an even more complete overview of the Belgian concept landscape is presented.

One of the conclusions: in the past year, the growth of new branches remained limited. Especially many universal concepts (15 out of a total of 30 concepts) are unable to achieve rapid growth. Supporting concepts, such as Bosch Workshop Partner and Omnitech, manage to increase their branch numbers considerably faster; these concepts therefore have lower requirements and fashionable participation fees. These concepts are also less important for the external appearance of the garage owner, but more internally focused for the entrepreneur.

Market analyst Bart Schimmel of AUMACON: "There are now eight concepts that exceed the 100-establishment mark in Belgium. Two years ago, there were five. That limit is often seen as a criterion for the claim of 'national coverage'. Especially for making agreements with leasing companies, this claim is important."

In total, the 30 concepts together recorded 1,824 branches. It should be noted that Full Car Service was withdrawn from the market. In contrast, five new concepts were added to the survey.

The 10 largest concepts together represented 1,294 participants, or 71 per cent of the total Top 30. Bosch Workshop Partner and Omnitech are ex aequo the largest concepts in Belgium, both among the supporting concepts. Eurorepar Car Service (a concept of car manufacturer Stellantis) is narrowly the largest universal concept in Belgium with 161 branches, followed by Qualitygarage (LKQ) and 1,2,3 Autoservice (Doyen Auto). "Belgium still offers plenty of opportunities for growth for the concepts. Our advice to the concepts: commit strongly to acquisition, ensure a wide range of services and added value, but at the same time remain critical of the quality of the garagist."
