Last month – according to figures from data partner RDC – 26,455 new passenger cars were registered, compared with 26,498 in August 2025; a decrease of 0.2 per cent. Over the first eight months, the total now stands at 228,760 registrations, a fall of 3.8 per cent compared with the same period in 2025. It is expected that the approaching ‘pseudo-end-of-year tax’ will lead to a real final surge in registrations this year.
After 8 months, Kia tops the list with a market share of 9.8 per cent, followed at some distance by Toyota (8.0 per cent) and Volkswagen (6.9 per cent).
