Last month - according to figures from data partner RDC - 29,915 new passenger cars were registered compared to 29,596 in May 2025; an increase of 1.1%. Over the first 5 months, this brings the counter to 136,090 registrations, down 8.0% compared to the same period in 2025.
Kia leads the list after 5 months with a 9.8% market share, followed by Toyota (7.6%) and Volkswagen (7.4%). Newcomers Jaecoo and Omoda are making an impressive entry into the Dutch market.

In May - according to data specialist RDC - 12,251 new (fully) electric cars were delivered, 21.3% more than a year earlier in the same month. It seems that both the rapidly growing (cheap) supply from China and the impending levy on non-electric business cars (by 2027) are driving this development.
Due to a mediocre first quarter (-23.3%), this year's total number of EVs after 5 months is still almost 10% behind the same period in 2025. This backlog is now expected to catch up quickly.
